Hundreds of puppies and dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds took over Calgary River Park Sunday morning in an effort to raise money for the Calgary Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF).

The $25,000 goal was achieved on the morning of the event with over 400 sponsors making their contribution to save animal lives. The event kicked off at 11 a.m. with registration and puppy obedience demonstrations and ended with the walk in early afternoon.

The charity’s overall goal is to raise $1 million to buy a new building that will be used to house all operations.

“There are a lot of animals out there that need ARF. We take care of them and are very careful of what homes they are released into,” said Joellen Wickenson, a volunteer with ARF.
