Local vendors excitedly await re-opening

Bob Whitworth currently spends his weekends in the market, cutting and handing out samples of meat pie and chatting customers up, just as he has since 1985.

Whitworth, who owns Simple Simon Pies, said that he prefers to work in farmers’ markets rather than retail locations after doing both throughout his career.

Local moms share what items people should get or avoid

Heather Vetsch, a mother of a two-and-a-half-month-old baby boy, said that motherhood has taught her to let go of her daily routines and ask for help whenever she needs it.

When it comes to buying gifts for new moms Vetsch said, “Home cooked or frozen meals are fantastic! You barely have time to sleep never mind try to feed yourself, so something that can be heated up fast and without thought is so handy.”

Calgary man regains 75 per cent of his speech and hopes for more

Imagine an event that causes you to have to relearn everything that is essential to your everyday life; now imagine that there is little or nothing that you could have done to prevent it from happening.

Bob Mulatz, 53, had his first stroke on Sept. 17, 2008 – he lost most of his speech, the ability to write and many other motor skills.

L’Arche Calgary and the Pastry Chef Guild of Alberta team up for the 2nd annual Pastry Chef Showcase

Last year it was decorative cakes. This year it’s mouth-watering pastries. Is there any better way to raise money for a good cause?

L’Arche Calgary and the Pastry Chef Guild of Alberta recently combined tasty treats with socializing at an event held at the Sirocco Golf Club in Calgary.
